COURSE DESCRIPTION
RURAL WATER SUPPLY
This two-day course provides firefighters with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills required to safely and effectively operate water tenders in accordance with NFPA 1002 standards 4.2, 10.1 & 10.2 for Driver/Operator – Tender Operations
Participants will cover tender apparatus familiarization, safe driving considerations specific to water tenders, water shuttle operations, fill and dump site management, and rural water supply strategies eg. Deploying the Rural Hitch. This course emphasis is placed on safety, apparatus control, and efficient water movement in support of fireground operations.
Students will perform practical evolutions including nurse tanker operations, portable tank setup, drafting, and coordinated water shuttle scenarios. Training focuses on maintaining continuous water supply, communication, and teamwork in rural firefighting environments.
