COURSE DESCRIPTION
EMERGENCY VEHICLE PUMP OPERATOR
This two-day course provides firefighters with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills required for effective fire apparatus pump operations, in accordance with NFPA 1002 standards 4.2, 5.1 & 5.2 for Driver/Operator – Pump Operations.
Participants will cover pump theory, water supply methods, hydrant operations, drafting, relay pumping, and master stream operations. Training emphasizes maintaining adequate fire flows, understanding pump performance, and operating apparatus efficiently during fireground incidents.
Students will perform practical pumping evolutions designed to replicate real-world fireground conditions. Training focuses on troubleshooting common pumping issues, managing changing water demands, and developing the confidence and technical skills required for safe and effective pump operations.
