COURSE DESCRIPTION
EMERGENCY VEHICLE DRIVING
This two-day course provides firefighters with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills required to safely and effectively operate fire apparatus in emergency and non-emergency conditions, in accordance with NFPA 1002 standards 4.2 & 4.3 for Driver/Operator operations.
Participants will cover driver responsibilities, legal requirements, defensive driving techniques, and risk management. Training emphasizes apparatus control, safe emergency response, and sound decision-making while operating fire department vehicles in a variety of driving conditions.
Students will perform practical evolutions including apparatus maneuverability, precision control, backing, and positioning exercises. Street driving practice allows participants to apply safe driving principles in real-world conditions, with a focus on safety, awareness, and confident vehicle operation.
